Technical grade, 200 Bloom, Type B, 40 mesh
Type B is gelatin derived from cattle. Bloom number indicates the gel strength of the gelatin; the higher the number the stiffer the gelatin when set. Two hundred is a medium viscosity.
40 mesh equals a sieve/mesh that has 40 openings per square inch. Sieved grains of gelatin will be approximately 0.422mm in diameter.
Use in conservation: adhesive for vellum repairs, sizing of paper, paper splitting.
The gelatin is sold in a plastic container or as a refill in a plastic bag.
